There are various ways to set up an altar, and almost all beginner books have a explanation about how to set one up, Scott Cunningham and Raymond Buckland were the ones I first followed. In the picture you will see an example of an altar set up. I say it is an example because when it comes to altars, I very firmly believe they should be guided by your intuition. Not everyone has the amount of room that it would take to create an altar like the one shown. Not everyone has the items shown.
Let your instincts and intuition guide you in creating your altar, you will never be wrong.
